I have one of
the new iPods (Nano 4th gen. or iTouch 2nd gen.). Are these compatible with this unit?
The new iPods are compatible and
will play on this unit but some of the units can’t charge the iPod. This is due to recent changes by Apple on new
iPods after our unit was released. The
battery life on the new iPods is greatly improved requiring less frequent
charging. We have made changes and
updated our units to be able to charge the new iPods; however, some of the
older models still in circulation won’t have this charging ability. Look for the model number on the back of the
unit and note the suffix number. Any model
with a suffix number of “E1” or higher has been updated and will charge the new
iPods. For models with no suffix number,
these will only play the iPod but won’t charge it. With these older version GPX units you will
need to charge your iPod via the computer using the provided USB cord. Alternatively, you can purchase an AC adaptor
we offer at special savings that will charge your iPod. Call us at 314-621-2881 and press option 2
for the Parts Dept to order the optional AC adaptor.
