I
lost my Instruction Book where can I find a new one?
Check www.gpx.com/store/pg/27-Product-Support.aspx . Go to the page that features this
model and click on the Downloads tab.
In the
AUDIO SETUP tab, what is the difference between SPDIF/PCM, SPDIF/RAW, and
SPDIF/OFF?
- SPDIF
stands for Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format. This is a standardized manner
in which audio is transferred from your DVD player to a separate audio system.
- The PCM option would be appropriate for a 2-channel Dolby Digital amplifier.
This would be a Dolby Digital receiver that has only two speakers connected to
it.
- This would also be the best option when connecting your player to a standard,
two-speaker television.
- The RAW option would provide a raw signal to be processed by a Dolby Digital
5.1, MPEG, or DTS capable amplifier.
- The OFF setting is for when you are only using the left and right speakers
included on your GPX player.
Why are
there subtitles displayed on my screen?
Press the
SUBTITLE button on your remote until your display reads SUBTITLE OFF or check
to see whether or not the subtitle language in the LANGUAGE SETUP menu is
switched to OFF. Press SETUP and scroll
to the right to enter the LANGUAGE SETUP menu.
Why does my
DVD skip?
Check to
see that there are no scratches on your DVD that would cause lower performance.
Also, over time any DVD player may need to be cleaned. Due to the sensitivity of such a project, consult
your local electronics provider for an appropriate system to clean your DVD
player.
Why is
there a display at the top of my screen while I'm trying to watch a movie?
This is the
display screen. It can tell you the chapter number, how much time is left in
the movie, and how much time has elapsed since the start of the movie. To get
rid of this screen, press the DISPLAY button until the screen disappears. The
same can be done with the SETUP menu. To
exit from the SETUP menu, press SETUP until the screen disappears or scroll
down to EXIT SETUP.
If I have
burned a CD or DVD with various types of files (WMAs, MP3s, JPEGs, etc.), how
do I view these files?
- When you insert
a data CD or DVD, a display on your television automatically provides a browser
to look through which JPEG files you would like to view. Select a file from the
disc and press the PLAY/PAUSE button. This will start a slide show of pictures
in numerical/alphabetical order. You may use the NEXT and PREVIOUS track
buttons to skip a photo or to go back to a photo. Note: The ability to play
music in MP3 or WMA format is not included as a feature in this product. It may
be possible to play these files off of a USB flash drive or an SD/MMC card,
depending upon whether or not your music files are copy-protected.
How do I
play files off of a USB flash device or an SD/MMC card?
You are
able to switch between input modes by holding the STOP button. This button is
also the DVD/SD/USB button. NOTE: You
are not able to connect the USB port from your GPX DVD player directly to your
computer. This USB port is meant to have an external hard drive or flash memory
drive connected to it.
Why is my
widescreen movie still displayed in letterbox?
- Press the
SETUP button. Enter into the SYSTEM SETUP menu. You will need to change the LCD
MODE to 16:9 and the TV TYPE to 16:9.
- If you are still experiencing this letterbox format, check the back of your
DVD box. At some point it should show the DVD SCREEN FORMAT. Here it will read
Widescreen, and then show an aspect ratio.
- The aspect ratio that will fill the entire screen of this DVD player is
1.85:1. This ratio is slightly greater than the 16:9, but it will still fill
the screen. Some DVDs may have a width-to-length ratio of 2.35:1.
- As this is a wider picture, it will appear as a letterbox view even when your
GPX player is set to the 16:9 widescreen setting.
- If this letterbox view is undesirable, you may press the ZOOM button until
your display is as you want it to be.
- To return your screen to a normal view, press the ZOOM button until ZOOM OFF
appears in the display.
How do I
use the AV OUT on the side of my player?
You will
need a 3.5mm-to-RCA out DD DT/3 cable available for purchase on our website,
part number “PDL-AV-CBL”. If you have
purchased a similar cable from a third party, it will not function with this
portable DVD system.
